9/28/2009 – Copenhagen Delights

Copenhagen is one of my favorite cities.  There is lots to see, the museums are great, the pedestrian streets are always crowded, the ice cream is great, and everyone is good looking.  If I recall correctly, Denmark is the happiest country in the world, and it shows.  They have the highest marginal tax rate at 63%, but not too much griping since they get so much for it, including free university tuition, room & board, and spending money!  Many people ride bikes, the city streets have separate bike lanes.  The train lines are also great — lot’s of people don’t own cars because they don’t need them.

We had most of two days here.  One the first day, Sisse Brimberg, one of National Geographic’s noted photographers, took six of us to tour the town of Roskilde.  We visited their church, then  their viking ship museum containing five ships excavated from the site.  A replica of the largest ship was built and sailed to Dublin and back in 2007-2008.

  1. Hey guys,

Really nice blog. What a trip! I’m telling you, you’ve got to get some of your photos into a stock site and sell them. I hear Phyllis is not felling so well. Hope she’s back to normal post haste (sp).

    See you soon..
