10/02/2009 In Brugges, Belgium

This is our second visit to Brugges, a medieval canal city that has managed to escape the ravages of war.  Like Venice, you feel like you are walking through an outdoor museum of architectural wonders, not to mention great chocolates and beer.  I need to look this up, but I am pretty sure that Belgium has more breweries per capita than any other country — every monk seems to brew his own beer.

The weather held for us another day as we walked the streets, rode through the canals, and Phyllis got in a little shopping.
